Grandfather Rights Review of Older Passenger Boats
On 28 December 2022, The Merchant Shipping (Safety Standards for Passenger Ships on Domestic Voyages) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2022, otherwise known as Grandfather Rights, were passed into law.
Affected vessels that have not already complied, are now required to comply with the requirements by the date of the next passenger ship renewal survey.
The changes are summarised in MGN 627(M) Amendment 2.
It is important to act early, to avoid a situation where the owner’s vessel is unable to gain a certificate to operate.
We are able to assist you in the implementation of these requirements.
